Description: The main focus of this report is the presentation of information and methodologies to support the analysis of the financial impact of AIDS on individual companies writing life insurance in the U.S. Topics include reserving and development of valuation tables used for both statutory and GAAP accounting. This report should be viewed as a supplement to the Individual Life Report. Many of the issues and conclusions in the Individual Life Report are equally applicable to individual disability insurance and are therefore not discussed herein. Description: Report of the Task Force to Recommend Morbidity Standards for Valuation of Credit Disability. The key recommendation was that a new morbidity standard for valuation of policy reserves be adopted based on the tables developed by the Task Force. The tables are developed from the 85CIDA tables with incidence rates increased by 12%.

The reason for this request was that the NAIC had received reports that statutory reserves based on the current morbidity tables frequently fail the tests of adequacy and reasonableness. Further, they requested that this review extend to contract and claim reserves and across all lines of disability insurance - group and individual, and short- and long-term. They also requested help in establishing when it is appropriate for a company to use its own experience in valuation.
